House Details

The Ronald McDonald House at the Alaska Native Medical Center is located in Anchorage. The House is a floor within the six-story ANMC patient housing building. It provides a home-away-from-home for ANMC eligible patients, including expectant mothers with high-risk pregnancies as well as pediatric patients and their families.

Each room in the new House features its own bathroom, sleeper chair, and full sized bed. The House floor includes a fully equipped kitchen, cozy living room, library, interactive play area, and laundry. Ronald McDonald House residents also have access to the amenities of the ANMC housing building, including a workout space and cafeteria. The building is joined to the hospital via skybridge, making it easy for families to get the care they need.

Volunteer-run activities include cooking dinners, leading craft activities, and hosting bingo or movie nights. If you’re interested in being a volunteer and bringing one of these activities to families here, please let us know! Call 907.729.4666 or visit our volunteer page.

Our Relationship with the Alaska Native Medical Center

The Alaska Native Medical Center is a nonprofit hospital that provides comprehensive medical care to Alaska Native people. The medical center has 167 beds, occupies almost 400,000 square feet, and employs 250 physicians. ANMC has consistently been recognized for their exceptional care, including earning Magnet designation for nursing excellence.

To meet the challenge of serving a widespread population — many of whom live in remote areas — ANMC provides housing and transportation services to many patients. It also serves as a valuable gathering place for the Alaska Native people community.

RMHC & ANMC have been partners since 2008, when RMHC began a van program to help families get around Anchorage. When ANMC built a new housing facility, they asked RMHC to partner with them on operating a Ronald McDonald House on one floor in the new building. The Ronald McDonald House at the Alaska Native Medical Center opened in January 2017.
