Members of the media interested in conducting interviews or taking photographs of staff, patients, or patients' families must request permission from Ronald McDonald House Charities of Western Washington & Alaska Public Relations staff. This includes visits to Ronald McDonald House and external shots of the buildings.
Style Guidelines for Media
- The name of the charity is: Ronald McDonald House Charities® of Western Washington & Alaska. After first use, it can be abbreviated to: RMHC of Western Washington & Alaska or RMHC.
- Ronald McDonald House® is our primary program. After the first reference, it can be called “the Seattle House” or “the House.” Never call it “Seattle’s House or Seattle’s Ronald McDonald House.”
- The first use of both names in a story should use the registration mark with the name. Both are singular and should use singular verbs. Ex: RMHC provides...; The House provides…
- Never use “the” before Ronald McDonald House Charities of Western Washington & Alaska.
- Always use “the” before Ronald McDonald House or Seattle Ronald McDonald House.
- "Home-away-from-home" should always use hyphens and quotation marks.
- When referring to any of the three buildings comprising the Ronald McDonald House, refer to them as House A, House B and House C.

The Seattle Ronald McDonald House provides a caring "home-away-from-home" for families of seriously ill children being treated at Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center in Seattle. The House can accommodate 80 families each night and currently is the second largest House in the world, serving 1,100 families annually. The House is operated and maintained through individual and corporate donations by Ronald McDonald House Charities of Western Washington & Alaska.
